Buffet dining

At P&O Cruises, we believe great holidays should be all about choice and freedom. No matter what time of day it is, if you fancy a good meal you'll always get one. Our main self-service restaurants on each ship offer high quality dining throughout the day in a relaxed, informal environment. So if you've just returned to the ship after a shore excursion and have worked up a late afternoon appetite you can still enjoy a great meal. Late night snacks are also available from the buffet restaurants 10pm until late.

Grab and Go

Enjoy self-service hot snacks such as burgers, hot dogs, chicken, chips and salads. Ready-prepared food to grab and go. On selected ships you can also enjoy freshly made pizzas from our poolside pizzerias.

Dining with children

Enjoy family friendly poolside bars with easy snacks, as well as proper sit-down meals. There's even a dedicated early children's tea, served daily in the buffet restaurant on family friendly ships. A typical children's menu has a variety of tasty options including:

Pizza Margherita (V)
Poached salmon
Cheese and tomato omelette (V)
French fries (V)
Fresh vegetables of the day (V)
Fruit jellies
Selection of ice creams with sweet sauces

If you prefer, we can provide small portions and amend the main adult menu items to suit as well. Please note, all details are subject to change.

Room service

Morning, noon or throughout the evening, enjoy dining in the comfort of your own cabin. You can choose from a range of snacks, main meals and sweets.

Dine your way

You can choose where, when and who to dine with.

Club dining: A sociable way to dine in the main restaurants, share a table each evening with the same guests at a set time. Choose from 6.30pm or 8.30pm and a variety of table sizes (subject to availability).

Freedom dining: If you'd rather go with the flow and be flexible, dine together anytime from 6.00-9.30pm. At peak times, we'll give you a pager to let you know when your table is ready, so you can sit back and relax with a drink in the bar.

Marco turns up the heat on Gala nights

One of the highlights of any cruise is the Gala Dinner, presented in the main restaurant on a formal evening.

Marco Pierre White in the kitchen

Our gala menus are created by Marco Pierre White

One of the highlights of any cruise is the Gala Evening. On these glamorous occasions, a gourmet dining experience is available to everyone, presented in the main restaurant and we’re delighted that our Gala menus have been created personally by the legendary godfather of British cooking, Marco Pierre White. Some of Marco’s favourite traditional dishes are celebrated in the five-course menu.

Savour such treats as Bayonne ham and Parmesan mousse; classic beef Wellington with a wild mushroom and Madeira duxelle; New England half split lobster with a Mornay sauce; poached Hampshire chalk stream trout with caper mayonnaise; Champagne sorbet; and orange-scented savarin with summer berries. Complete this wonderful experience by treating yourself to one of our speciality wines, including three exclusive Bon Viveur blends created by Olly Smith.

Indulge with afternoon tea at sea

Afternoon Tea by Eric Lanlard

Sit down to an indulgent treat for the senses. Inspired by Eric’s worldwide travels, we’ve taken the great British tradition of Afternoon Tea to decadent new places. Intricately rendered and carefully prepared, you’ll be presented with a cake stand laden with intriguing delights. Savour mouth-watering moments indulging in savoury porcini and pancetta éclairs or curried crab tartlets, plus sweeter bites including pistachio petit choux with red berries and orange blossom, bee pollen scones and saffron and mango verrine. And the all-essential tea? A thirst-quenching collection of 12 blends courtesy of teapigsTM.

Afternoon Tea by Eric Lanlard is available for a small cover charge in The Epicurean on board Azura, Britannia and Ventura and at Ocean Grill on Arcadia.

daily afternoon tea

Take traditional tea every day. Recreate the quintessentially British tradition of high tea as you sail the high seas. Every day, the beautifully presented occasion takes place in the main restaurants across the fleet at four o’clock and is included in the price of your holiday. It’s the perfect way to bridge the gap between a light lunch and a late dinner. You’ll find a classic selection of finger sandwiches, cakes, pastries and freshly baked scones with jam and clotted cream, all served with your choice of Twinings speciality fine tea or coffee.

casual afternoon tea

Enjoy teatime treats the flexible way. Afternoon tea was introduced to Britain in the 19th century by Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, who felt a bit peckish around 4 o’clock in the afternoon. Follow in her footsteps and enjoy a cuppa and a slice of cake whenever you fancy. All our ships offer daily casual afternoon tea in the buffet area, which is included in the price of your holiday. Take your pick from the array of freshly made cakes, pastries and scones served with tea or coffee – then go back for more!

An experience to remember

Select Dining is wonderfully flexible, allowing you a change of scene and the opportunity to dine with different people. This is a great way to add variety to your holiday or celebrate a special occasion. We have worked closely with our Food Heroes to perfect many of our Select Dining venues' ambiance and, of course, menus.

How does tipping work?

Rewarding good service is simple

While you're with us, you'll be looked after by many members of our crew. We make it easy for you to say 'thank you' for all the service you receive. With our Service Reward Programme, a discretionary daily amount of £7.00* is added to your on-board account for each guest aged 12 and over. This helps reward the waiters and buffet staff as well as your cabin steward or butler, who greatly appreciate your recognition of their hard work.

It means you can enjoy the service you receive, knowing the tip has been taken care of.

If you want to personally recognise a crew member, you can nominate them for our Outstanding Service Award. So, if someone goes the extra mile for you, use the nomination cards at Reception to let us know. It’s an opportunity for crew members to gain recognition they deserve, as well as prizes and a cash award.

*A service charge of £6 per guest per day will be chargeable to cruises departing before the 22 March 2018. For cruises departing the 23 March and thereafter, the charge will be £7 per guest per day.
